Slow Joy Enjoying the Sunset over Soiano on Valentines Day

An Abondoned Farm House Passed on a Ride Out

The best thing about this month though has to have been the change in the weather, it is definitely getting wamer and the days getting longer, summer is on it's way....am I being too optimistic? It's funny that all winter I seem to be waiting for the summer sun to finally arrive, yet when it does I spend all summer praying for a drop of rain, some of us are never satisfied eh?

One thing I really wanted to mention today is our collaboration with Angel Holidays, the charity that provides free holidays to families affected by cancer. Ruth who organises this huge project is a truly amazing woman, with great energy and a genuine love for horses, we enjoyed a nice ride out together a couple of weeks ago with Looby and our new arrival Slow Joy.

Slow Joy in the Paddock

Slow is a horse I really rate, we have only known each other a month but I can see great things ahead for this mare. She is very much the baby, and quite wibbly wobbly, but such a sweetheart and always wanting to please. Her name also suits her very well, as she certainly likes to take her time over everything! It's nice to ride a quality horse like her, with such comfortable paces, but who is so happy in her work and so trusting of her rider and above all who 'thinks before she spooks'. I can see she already has such a great head on her young shoulders and I am very excited about her future. The plan for Slow is to get her nice and fit and just hacking out for this year. After the season she will get the winter off to relax and then this time next year we will pick up with her schooling and start to ask a little bit more. But for now her ony job is to spend all day trekking around the Tuscan countryside (not to dissimilar to my job!) so it can't be bad, eh?

Slow Joy and Rider Katy

For anyone who is interested Slow Joy is by Cavalier Jump for Joy, and if she is anything to go by I will certainly be looking at more Irish Sports Horses by this stallion.

Right I'm off to make the most of this good weather, and Looby is putting on a bit of weight so it's time for some work, a presto! Sharon

Looby is on a Strict Diet & Exercise Regime!
